Where to Legally Buy Fireworks in Los Angeles

Fireworks are illegal locally, but there are places not far away where they can be purchased and set off.

You might conclude otherwise from the occasional pop and bang you hear on this week, but fireworks are illegal in many cities in Los Angeles County.

So how can you buy and enjoy fireworks if you live in a town that does not allow them? Quick answer: Go somewhere else in the county.

At the bottom of this article we have a list of where "safe and sane" fireworks are allowed in the county. A few of the closest towns to Echo Park and Silver Lake are Alhambra, Bell Gardens and El Monte.

There is also a very tight window time-wise of when the sales are allowed: permitted sales dates started last Thursday and will end July 6.

If you are confused about whether the fireworks you are buying are legal or not, there is an official "safe and sane" seal courtesy of the L.A. County Fire Department.
