Learn mediation techniques to tune in to your body and mind and facilitate deep relaxation and healing. This will be a 1 hour session geared toward participants ages 14 and up (primarily adults, though teenagers are also welcome to attend).
This session will be broken up in 3 parts:
1. 10-15 minutes explaining how this form of meditation works, basic instructions, a brief explanation of why this works at the physical, cognitive, and scientific level, and to address any questions participants may have prior to starting.
2. 25-30 minutes of guided meditation where participants will either lay down on a yoga mat, or sit comfortably on a mat or in a chair. I will provide instruction as to how to calm the mind through counting breaths, followed by instruction as to how to deeply relax at the physical level. It is important to note that this will require complete stillness for a minimum of 20 minutes. Something to cover ones eyes (such as a sash or eye pillow) may be helpful, though not necessary, also participants can also bring ear plugs and or something similar to dampen sound if they would like (again not required but helpful for some).
3. 10-15 minutes for discussion and Q&A. Here we can discuss as a group and address any challenges, questions, or aspects of practicing this on a continued basis.
