2 New Coronavirus Deaths Reported In Contra Costa Monday
The death toll is now up to 22 in the county. Plus, the latest cases in El Cerrito.
EL CERRITO, CA — The number of people in the county who have died of COVID-19, caused by coronavirus, inched up to 22 on Monday with the announcement of two new deaths by Contra Costa Health Services.
The health department also announced 17 new cases, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 707. In El Cerrito, 10 people have tested positive for coronavirus.
There are 35 people hospitalized in the county for coronavirus complications.

According to the latest numbers from Johns Hopkins University, 31,740 people in California have officially been diagnosed with coronavirus, and the death toll has now reached 1,181. Those numbers were reported at 12:45 p.m. on Monday.

In the US, 41,313 people have died of coronavirus, with 776,513 confirmed cases.
Across the globe, there have been 2,458,150 diagnosed cases, and 168,906 reported deaths.
The number of people who have actually had coronavirus may be significantly higher than official reports. Stanford University tested approximately 3,300 Santa Clara residents April 2-3 for COVID-19 antibodies in the blood. None of them had COVID-19 at the time of the tests. The study concluded that as of April 1, when Santa Clara County had 956 confirmed COVID-19 cases, approximately 48,000 to 81,000 Santa Clara residents had been infected with the virus.
