Following the paths of Townes Van Zandt, John Prine & Gram Parsons, Gabriel is a modern-day troubadour playing Cosmic American Music. Native to Charlottesville, Virginia, and a longtime Bay Area resident, he has become increasingly migratory. To pay the rent, he’s worked as a housepainter, cook, shepherd, bartender, dockworker at a lobsterman’s co-op, and camera operator. But whatever his day/night job, and wherever on earth it finds him, he is writing songs. These songs, deceptively clad in the guise of country-folk, are glimpses into a far-gone world, variously mournful and raucous, cozy and surreal. The campaign to support his album Sir Dude Man & the Wandering Blues has brought him to Point Reyes, CA, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Richmond, VA, Charlottesville, New Orleans, Detroit, Kalamazoo & Grand Rapids, MI.
