Tom Bekeny is a mandolinist equally at home playing bluegrass and jazz. He has been a mainstay of the straight-ahead jazz group, the Missing Man Quartet, for nearly 20 years and released a jazz CD in 2014 entitled “Jazzolin”. Tom’s jazz friends are all well-established Bay Area jazz veterans. The band plays original arrangements of jazz standards and explores the diverse sources and styles of jazz…from Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Django Reinhardt, and Great American Songbook, to blues, bebop, ballads, bossa, and Latin.
