Cops Bust Suspected Marijuana Grow: 3 Arrested, 1 Gun Nabbed: Police

BREAKING; Some 250 plants were found at the scene, Richmond police said.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA – Richmond police last month arrested three people who were skulking around a suspected illegal marijuana grow operation, according to police.

On Feb. 18, officers responded to calls that four people were walking on the rooftop and climbing into the window of a home in the southern part of the city, police said Monday. As officers arrived, the four immediately fled from the home and into the backyard.

"Officers searched the residence and found approximately 250 marijuana plants in different stages of growth," police said.

Police surrounded the yard and apprehended three of the four suspects, one of whom was in possession of a gun. The fourth is still at large, according to police.

"Officers quickly surrounded the area and were able to detain three of the four suspects," police said. "Officers found a loaded magazine to a firearm on the ground, but the gun was missing. During a search for the suspects, officers found the gun that went with the found magazine."

When officers searched the home, they found 250 marijuana plants in different stages of growth.

"Although one suspect managed to elude capture, we are proud of our officers' teamwork efforts and their ability to keep calm under pressure," officers said.
