Coroner IDs Man Found Dead Near Richmond BART

BREAKING: The 65-year-old was discovered in the street with a toppled shopping cart and his belongings nearby, police said.

RICHMOND, CA – A man killed in a suspected hit-and-run crash Friday night in Richmond has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner's office as 65-year-old Melvin Broadway.

Police found Broadway in the 1700 block of Barrett Avenue, near the Richmond BART station, around 10:30 p.m.

He was in the middle of the road with a tipped-over shopping cart and belongings all over. Investigators believe he was struck by a vehicle.

Broadway was a resident of Richmond.

Police were not immediately available to provide an update on the investigation.
