El Cerrito Announces Tri-City Safety Day

The El Cerrito Fire Department will host a spectacular Public Safety Event for the whole family on September 17 at the El Cerrito Plaza.

El Cerrito, CA: On Saturday September 17th at the El Cerrito Plaza, the El Cerrito Fire Department will host a spectacular Public Safety Event that will be informative and fun for the whole family. There will be appearances from Smokey the Bear, Sparky the Fire Dog, as well as McGruff the Crime Dog. Agencies from all over the Bay Area will be in attendance showing off their equipment and skills.

Representatives from various agencies will include: the Fire Departments from El Cerrito, Albany, Kensington, Richmond, East Bay Regional Parks, the Police Departments of Richmond, El Cerrito, Albany, and the U.C. Berkeley Bomb squad will perform an amazingly exciting demonstration as well. ECFD will demonstrate the “Jaws of Life” apparatus. County Environmental health will bring its Hazmat Truck, and the U.S. Secret Service will be on hand to make photo and fingerprint ID cards for kids. ECFD’s “Fire Safety House” will also be there so that kids can learn about fire safety and practice escape drills from a simulated structure fire.

The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and is free to the public. The action will take place in front of Lucky supermarket at El Cerrito Plaza, on San Pablo Ave. and Fairmount Ave. in El Cerrito.
