El Cerrito Home Invasion, Attempted Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested
The crime was reported at an apartment Thursday night.

EL CERRITO, CA — El Cerrito Police have arrested a home invasion suspect accused of attempting to sexually assault the victim at knifepoint. The crime happened Thursday night at an apartment complex on the north end of the city. The suspect was arrested on Friday.
The suspect entered the apartment through an open window and awakened victim, according to a police report. "The suspect brandished a knife, attempted to sexually assault the victim, and then demanded the victim turn over their valuables," the report continues. "During the incident, a roommate arrived, knocked on the door, and startled the suspect. The suspect exited the apartment through a backdoor and jumped down several floors."
Police received a call about the crime at 8:46 p.m. Despite an exhaustive search of the area, including the use of a K-9, the suspect got away.

Detectives identified the suspect as San Pablo resident Jermine K. Allen. He was arrested at 3 p.m. on Friday and booked into jail in Martinez where he is being held without bail.
