El Cerrito Police Make Arrests, Confiscate Guns

Breaking: In addition, police recovered a stolen vehicle.

EL CERRITO, CA — Police officers confiscated firearms at two separate car stops in El Cerrito on Wednesday, Lt. David Hartung said.

At one, an officer ran a check on a license plate and identified the vehicle as stolen. When the officer pulled the car over, the occupants were allegedly found to be in possession of a starter pistol that had been modified to fire live ammunition, as well as a pellet gun and a chisel.

The occupants were also found to be in possession of stolen property. They were taken into custody, according to police.

In a separate incident, an officer conducted a traffic stop during which a loaded Glock pistol and high-capacity magazines were allegedly discovered in the passenger's seat. High-capacity magazines are illegal in
California.

Police determined the gun was reported stolen out of Santa Rosa. Two individuals were taken into custody.
