El Cerrito Police Offer Safe Exchange Zone
The Safe Exchange Zone may be used for child custody exchanges as well as online sales transactions.

EL CERRITO, CA — If you buy or sell items online, the exchange of cash and merchandise just became more secure. The El Cerrito Police Department has created a Safe Exchange Zone in the department's visitor parking area. The area is under 24 hour surveillance with the use of security cameras.
The Safe Exchange Zone may also be used for child custody exchanges.
The area consists of two dedicated and marked parking stalls in the parking area on the east side of the police department, located at 10900 San Pablo Ave. To get to the visitor parking area, turn onto Manila Avenue, then north onto Kearney Street.

While employees of the Police Department and the City will not come out to witness exchanges, police hope the area will be used for all internet sales transactions. The Police Department suggests that you reconsider transactions with any seller or buyer who is unwilling to meet at a Safe Exchange Zone.
While the El Cerrito Police Department reports few robberies related to online sales, surrounding areas have reported problems.
