El Cerrito Residents Sought For East Bay Parks Board
Whitney Dotson's resignation opens the seat.Interviews begin next month.
EL CERRITO, CA — Applications from candidates to fill the Ward 1 seat on the East Bay Regional Park District board are being accepted and must be submitted no later than noon on Friday.
The seat represents the communities of Albany, Berkeley, El Cerrito, Emeryville, most of Pinole, Richmond, San Pablo, Bayview-Montalvin, East Richmond Heights, El Sobrante, Kensington, North Richmond, Rollingwood and Tara Hills.
The vacancy was created when Whitney Dotson of Richmond, who has held the seat since 2008, announced last month that he was leaving the board.

An application is available online at www.ebparks.org or by contacting board clerk Yolande Barial Knight at (510) 544-2020 or ybarial@ebparks.org.
"Applicants must be over the age of 18, able to establish their residency within the boundaries of this ward, and a registered voter by the day of appointment," the district said in an announcement.

The district board will interview applicants on Dec. 9 and 10, and finalists will be interviewed at a special public board meeting on Jan. 7, 2020, when it is expected a selection will be made.
The selected applicant will serve the remainder of the unexpired Ward 1 term through Dec. 31, 2020. The Ward 1 seat will be up for election in 2020.
