Free Youth Mental-Health Training Offered In East Bay
The workshop offered by Catholic Charities is aimed at parents, caregivers and volunteers who work with adolescents.

RICHMOND, CA – A free training course on mental health first aid aimed at parents, caregivers and volunteers who work with youths will be offered next month.
The two-day workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, and Friday, Jan. 18, at Catholic Charities of the East Bay's Richmond office, 217 Harbor Way.
The training is designed to equip participants to recognize the signs and symptoms of distress and connect youths with the help they need.

Topics covered include typical adolescent development, potential signs and symptoms of mental health conditions and a five-part plan for support. All attendees receive a manual, local resources and breakfast as part of the training.
Registration is free, though participants have the option to help support the expansion of the curriculum by covering the $20 cost of the participant manual and book.
