Indigenous Women of the Americas Defending Mother Earth Treaty of 2015

Lecture by Pennie Opal Plant

Pennie Opal Plant, of Yaqui/Mexican/Choctaw/ Cherokee/European ancestry, was a member of the Indigenous Environmental Network delegation to the United Nations COP21 in Paris, December, 2015. She is one of the authors and original signers of the Indigenous Women of the Americas Defending Mother Earth Treaty of 2015. She is a co-founder of Movement Rights in San Francisco, co-founder of Idle No More SF Bay, and has been an activist on issues related to nuclear power and weapons, climate, the fossil fuel industry, and Indigenous Peoples for over 30 years, She is a wife, mother, grandmother and successful small business owner. Pennie will discuss the Indigenous Women of the Americas Mother Earth Treaty of 2015 (Indigenous People at COP21 in Paris) and will introduce a series of local Refinery Healing Walks.
