Man Found Fatally Shot in Richmond Park Wednesday

Police do not yet have a potential motive or suspect information in the shooting.

A 25-year-old man was fatally shot near a Richmond high school on Wednesday night, according to police. At 9:41 p.m. Wednesday, Richmond police dispatchers received a call about a shooting in the 4700 block of Fall Avenue.

The caller stated that a potential victim was lying on the ground east of State Court Park, which is near John F. Kennedy High School. The shooting had been confirmed through a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system prior to the call, according to police. Responding officers found the victim, who police have identified as Richmond resident Kameron Wilhite, suffering a gunshot wound.

He was given medical attention at the scene but died shortly afterward, according to police. Police do not yet have a potential motive or suspect information in the shooting.
