Man Killed After Hit-And-Run Driver Blows Stop Sign
The suspect fled the scene on foot on Solano Avenue towards San Pablo Ave, according to police.

Police are looking for a suspect who ran a stop sign in his truck and plowed into another vehicle, killing a motorist early this morning, according to Richmond police. Richmond police dispatchers started receiving calls at 12:10 a.m. about a collision involving two vehicles in the intersection of Solano Avenue and Ventura Street.
En route to the scene, officers received further reports that one of the vehicles had an unresponsive man in the driver’s seat and the other vehicle was unoccupied. The man, identified by police as 77-year-old Anthony Tonti, was immediately treated for life-threatening injuries.
Police said he was later transported from the scene, but died shortly thereafter. Responding officers learned that Tonti, a Walnut Creek resident, had been struck in his Ford Fusion by a Ford Ranger pickup truck that sped through a stop sign on Ventura Street.

After the driver of the Ford Ranger pickup truck struck Tonti’s vehicle, the suspect fled the scene on foot on Solano Avenue towards San Pablo Ave, according to police. Police did not locate him during a search of the area. He was described by police as a bald Hispanic man in his 30s who stands at 5 foot 3 inches tall and was seen wearing a black jacket.
