Aldon Smith, who was an outside linebacker and edge rusher with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014, was found dead at age 36 Saturday. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner is investigating the cause of his death. His final act was reportedly delivering a pizza to a homeless charity.

A bridge over Eel River in unincorporated Mendocino County collapsed as a car crossed it, dropping the car onto its roof beside the river.
