Tesla Driver Involved in Fatal Traffic Crash (egcitizen.com) — A woman driving a Tesla died after crashing into the rear of a farm tractor on Kammerer Road east of Lent Ranch Parkway in Elk Grove early Wednesday, August 26. Elk Grove Police and CHP closed the road for several hours while firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire and investigators worked the scene, and authorities are still seeking witnesses as they determine what caused the collision.

How to get involved (sacbee.com) — Elk Grove is crafting a long-term arts and culture plan, and residents are invited to shape it through pop-up meetings and an online survey. Sessions on Sept. 10–12 at Todo Un Poco, Annie Peony Art Studio, and District 56 target artists, educators, festival organizers, and the general public, aiming to guide future investments and creative opportunities citywide.
3. 10U All-Star Team Has Tremendous Season (egcitizen.com) — Elk Grove's 10U Blue All-Stars just wrapped a historic season, becoming the first local team to reach the Cal Ripken Little League World Series and finishing fifth overall. After dominating state and regional tournaments undefeated, the boys shined in Virginia with strong pitching, defense, and several Players of the Game honors, giving local families plenty to be proud of.
4. Marie Mertz's Elk Grove restaurant Todo Un Poco is 'based in community' (sacbee.com) — A longtime Elk Grove favorite, Todo Un Poco grew from Marie Mertz's spur-of-the-moment idea into a 28-year-old Mexican-Italian restaurant rooted in community. Mertz now runs a zero-waste kitchen, partners with local farms and the Rancho Cordova Food Bank, and has helped turn surplus food into thousands of meals for neighbors in need.
5. Nguyen Amendment Guarantees Every Voter an Equal Voice, Regardless of Party (egcitizen.com) — Elk Grove residents are represented in a new statewide push to guarantee that all eligible Californians, including those with no party preference, can participate in publicly funded elections. Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, who represents Elk Grove and Sacramento, has introduced a constitutional amendment to enshrine this principle, with backing from several Democratic colleagues and nonpartisan voter advocacy groups.
