• Motorcyclist killed in Elk Grove crash on Lewis Stein Road (elkgrovenews.net) — A 33-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday evening after colliding with an SUV at Lewis Stein Road and West Stockton Boulevard in Elk Grove, according to police. Investigators say the Honda CR-V was turning toward Dracut Road when the southbound motorcyclist went straight from a right-turn lane and struck the vehicle. The driver stayed at the scene, and police are asking witnesses to come forward. 
• Elk Grove police arrest suspect in hit-and-run that left woman hospitalized (cbsnews.com) — Elk Grove police have arrested a 59-year-old local man after a July 30 hit-and-run on West Camden Drive that left a 74-year-old woman hospitalized with serious injuries. Investigators used surveillance video and license plate readers to identify a damaged GMC Yukon, and the suspect now faces a felony hit-and-run charge.
