Law enforcement leaders defended the cameras as vital investigative tools, but councilmembers took no action, leaving privacy concerns, data-sharing questions, and calls for an independent audit unresolved for now.
   

• Residents urge Elk Grove to reject Summer Villas (elkgrovenews.net) — Rural Elk Grove residents are urging city leaders to reject the proposed Summer Villas at Sheldon development, saying up to 499 age-restricted homes would break promises to preserve the city's designated rural area. The project needs a general plan amendment and rezoning, with environmental review underway and future hearings before the Planning Commission and City Council still unscheduled, leaving neighbors time to organize and weigh in.
