• Elk Grove family calls for accountability after 15-year-old daughter is killed after being struck by a driver at intersection (abc10.com) — An Elk Grove family is mourning their 15-year-old daughter, an honor student at Franklin High School, who was fatally struck by a truck while walking to a football game in South Sacramento. As police continue investigating without making an arrest, relatives and community advocates are demanding accountability, better traffic enforcement, and working cameras at the busy Bruceville and Calvine intersection, where a candlelight vigil is planned.
   

• Elk Grove approves middle-income homebuyer loans (elkgrovenews.net) — Elk Grove is rolling out a new city loan program offering up to $60,000 to help moderate-income first-time buyers with down payments and closing costs on homes they will live in. Funded initially with about $400,000 in state money, the deferred-payment loans target households earning 81–120% of area median income, aiming to ease the city's steep home prices and property tax burdens.
   

• 250 Starbucks are closing, with these Sacramento and Roseville stores among them (sacbee.com) — Starbucks is closing 250 U.S. stores, including the shop at 8341 Elk Grove Florin Road that many Elk Grove residents rely on, with some locations shutting as soon as Sept. 26. The company says underperformance and inconsistent customer experience are driving the closures, which affect about 1% of its North American stores and will impact several Sacramento-area neighborhoods.
