Wallet Stuffed With $1,500 Returned By Elk Grove Teen
The random act of kindness was caught on camera. "God bless this young man's heart," said Elk Grove resident Melissa Vang.

ELK GROVE, CA — A Northern California teenager's random act of kindness is getting a lot of attention this week. On Sept. 15, Tyler Opdyke, 18, was going door-to-door in Elk Grove dropping fliers for his uncle’s business when he stumbled upon a wallet full of cash in Melissa Vang’s driveway. Vang said via social media that Opdyke brought the wallet to her door, but she did not answer because she didn’t recognize the young man. Opdyke left the wallet on the doorstep when he got no answer.
Once the teen left the property, Vang opened the door and discovered the wallet, still full of the $1,500 cash and credit cards. The entire incident was captured on home security camera, and Vang took to social media to praise the random act of kindness.
“It's sad that I didn't trust him to open my door when he was just doing a good deed,” Vang said via Facebook. “Sadly, this is the world we live in today. We hear so much terrible news and barely any good. I think we all need to be reminded that there are still good people out there. His act of kindness cannot go unrecognized. Thank you Tyler.”
Vang said she tracked Opdyke down to thank him. Vang shared her post about the sweet gesture in the Elk Grove Laguna Forums on Facebook. The post has been shared more than 5,000 times, has garnered 1,100 comments and 26,000 likes.
