Encinitas Rotary Funds Basketball Court Project For Guatemalan Community

ENCINITAS, CA — The Encinitas Rotary Club has awarded a $2,000 grant to help build a basketball court for youth in the community of Panabaj, Guatemala.

The court will provide a dedicated recreational space for about 50 students ages 13 and older, according to the club.

Panabaj, a marginalized community with limited government support, currently has no formal recreational facilities. Rotary officials said the court is intended to promote community development, physical activity and youth engagement.

The grant was highlighted during a recent presentation with the Ciberclub Rotary in Lake Atitlán, Guatemala.
