Bicyclists Injured in Alleged DUI Hit-And-Run in Solana Beach
An 11-year-old boy and a 39-year-old man were hospitalized — the man with serious head injuries, a San Diego County sheriff's deputy said.

Solana Beach, CA — Two bicyclists were injured — one seriously — Saturday in Solana Beach when they were hit by an alleged drunken driver.
San Diego County sheriff’s Deputy Alan Griffith said a 24-year-old Carlsbad woman was driving a 2016 Honda Civic northbound on Camino Del Mar at about 6:45 p.m. when she went off the roadway and onto the sidewalk at the four-way intersection of North Coast Highway 101 and Via De La Valle.
“The vehicle struck an 11-year-old boy and a 39-year-old man, who were on their bicycles with a group of family and friends at the time of the collision,” Griffith said.

The woman allegedly drove away from the scene, according to Griffith. However, he said, a witness followed her as she turned left onto South Sierra Avenue and drove for nearly a mile before stopping at Linda Mar Drive — where deputies caught up with her and a took her into custody.
The woman — whose name was not disclosed — was booked into the Vista jail on suspicion of felony DUI and hit and run, Griffith said.
The North Coastal Sheriff's Station Traffic Division is continuing an investigation of the incident.
