Burglar Steals $80,000 in Jewelry From Encinitas Antique Store, Authorities Say
BREAKING: Anyone who recognizes this man is encouraged to contact the North Coastal Sheriff's Station or San Diego County Crime Stoppers.
ENCINITAS, CA — Authorities asked for the public's help Wednesday to identify a man who allegedly broke into an Encinitas antique store on two separate occasions, taking more than $80,000 worth of jewelry from a display case.
In the first burglary at 3 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Consignment Classics, 201 S. El Camino Real, the man allegedly stole approximately $30,000 worth of jewelry. It happened again at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, when the same suspect made off with about $50,000 in jewelry, according to San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff's North Coastal Station.
On both occasions, the unidentified man was caught on surveillance footage. Authorities released still images from the footage Wednesday in the hopes someone in the public recognizes the suspect, described as a white man in his late 40s who is around 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He was wearing prescription glasses, a black sweater, dark pants and athletic shoes. He was also seen carrying a black duffel bag with a shoulder strap.
