Coastal Rail Service Closed This Weekend, Following Two Weekends
Additionally, NCTD and first responders are holding an emergency drill this Saturday near the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

NORTH SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — In order to facilitate rail improvements along the coastal rail corridor from Oceanside to San Diego, no Coaster or other passenger rail service will be available between Oceanside and San Diego this weekend, Saturday, Oct. 8, and Sunday, Oct.9, and the following two weekends, Oct. 15-16 and 22-23, the North County Transit District announced.
In addition, NCTD will hold an emergency drill this Saturday along the coastal rail corridor in Del Mar, near the fairgrounds.
"The emergency drill will be conducted in cooperation with local first responder agencies, and seeks to evaluate current protocols, guidelines and inter-agency communications," said Eric Sawyer, NCTD Spokesman. "Residents should not be alarmed to see the Coaster train stopped on the tracks, with emergency crews present."

In addition to the Coaster being stopped for the drill, it will be seen moving along the rails Saturday, but is not available for passenger use, Sawyer said.
The drill is not open to the public or members of the media, according to NCTD. Further, trespassing laws are still in effect during the training exercise and subsequent weekend closures.
