Encinitas Motorcyclist Dies in Crash

The motorcyclist who was fatally injured when he crashed into the side of an SUV at a San Marcos intersection was publicly identified today as a 47-year-old Encinitas resident.

Mark Robert McHose was riding his KTM 525 EXC motorcycle east on West Mission Road at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and collided with the northbound 2003 GMC Yukon at the intersection with Pico Avenue, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Officer and the sheriff's department.

The rider was thrown into the roadway, sheriff's Deputy Michael Tingley said.

McHose was taken to Palomar Medical Center, and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, authorities said.
