Interested citizens may also attend a community workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 6pm at the City of Encinitas, 505 S. Vulcan Avenue, Encinitas, CA 92024 to learn about fair housing laws, and share any concerns about housing discrimination.
The Fair Housing Survey is a component of the Analysis of Impediments for Fair Housing Choice, commonly known as the AI. The AI provides demographic data, assesses housing needs for certain income groups, evaluates housing opportunities, and analyzes private and public conditions that may impede accessibility or availability of housing for all segments of the population. The AI equally focuses on developing solutions to overcome identified barriers or impediments.

“The survey results are a key component of a report required every five years in order to receive federal Community Development Block Grant funds used to provide our low-income housing programs,” explained Principal Planner Diane Langager. “We are a member of the San Diego Regional Alliance for Fair Housing (SDRAFFH) which provides fair housing training, education and advocacy for residents in member cities in our region,” explained Langager.
“This report provides critical information as we plan for our affordable housing programs for the next five years,” said Director of Building and Planning Jeff Murphy. The AI was last prepared in June 2011 and needs to be updated for upcoming five-year cycle (2015-2020).
