Encinitas 'Shadow Surfer': Photo Of The Day

ENCINITAS, CA — Patch reader and Encinitas resident Katy Brown captured this photo of a surfer in Encinitas.

"Marvel comic book characters are usually heroes who, after saving lives, need a little well-deserved wave time," Brown said. "Our local 'Shadow Surfer' ... is Dr. Iain MacEwan, an experienced local surfer and physician who in-between patients spends his lunchtime getting wet! Then, back to saving lives."

Brown added that she loves the photo because "the swirl of the water against the silhouette like-surfer figure creates a mysterious contrast and beautiful flow of motion at the same time."
