Encintas To Host 'Open House' On Railroad Project Jan. 30

The Rail Corridor Cross-Connect Implementation Plan will study how to better connect Encinitas' five communities across the railroad tracks.

ENCINTAS, CA—There will be a open house Jan. 30 for residents to offer input on design concepts for a proposed pedestrian and bicycle railroad crossings and connections. It's all part of the The Rail Corridor Cross-Connect project.

The Rail Corridor Cross-Connect Implementation Plan is studying how to better connect Encinitas’ five communities across the railroad tracks that bifurcate the city’s coastal corridor. The project will focus on the rail corridor and adjacent parallel roads, spanning from the west side of Coast Highway 101 to the east side of Vulcan/San Elijo Avenues, according to organizers.

The Cross-Connect Implementation Plan will:

  • Build upon the recommendations of the recently completed Rail Corridor Vision Study (RCVS) and Active Transportation Plan (ATP)
  • Prioritize to 10 potential crossing projects and 10 potential “connector” projects
  • Develop conceptual plans for each project
  • Create an implementation strategy to secure funding and regulatory approvals
