REGISTER TODAY! THIS EVENT ONLY HAPPENS ONCE EVERY TWO YEARS!

Class sizes are limited. After January 31, classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

On May 2nd and 3rd, 2015, the Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild presents its twelfth Gourd and Basket Weekend at San Diego Botanic Garden. Throughout the weekend, 29 classes will offer students of all abilities the opportunity to show off and develop their basket weaving and decorative gourd skills. There will be artisans and vendors with their creations and materials available for purchase, as well as displays. The event runs from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm both days.

Seventeen instructors from around the country will offer classes ranging from Southern California Native American Basketry to Beading on a Gourd as well as Gnome Garden Stake Gourd. Classes are designed for both beginners and the more advanced, so there should be something for everyone.

As a background, Misti Washington, who our guild was named after, was a highly respected, nationally known, basket maker, gourd artist, craftswoman, teacher and author who lived and worked in Solana Beach. She generated enthusiasm and inspiration, and fostered the development of countless basket makers until her death in 1997. The guild is named to honor her life and memory.
