Historic Encinitas Bus Tour To Offer Rare Visit To Bumann Ranch
The three-hour tour will feature more than 60 historical points of interest throughout the city.
ENCINITAS, CA — The Encinitas Preservation Association will host its annual historic bus tour Aug. 8, offering participants a rare opportunity to visit the historic Bumann Ranch, the city's last surviving homestead ranches.
The three-hour tour will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and feature more than 60 historical points of interest throughout Encinitas, according to the association. Scheduled stops include the Olivenhain Town Hall, the San Dieguito Heritage Museum and a drive through the former Ecke Poinsettia Farm.
The tour's featured attraction is the Bumann Ranch, which was homesteaded in 1886 and has remained in the same family for 125 years. According to organizers, the ranch has been carefully preserved and includes original buildings and contents that reflect rural life in the late late 1800s and early 1900s.

"Of the many Encinitas homestead ranches that once dotted the backcountry, this is the only one to survive into the 21st century," organizers said in a news release.
Tickets cost $60 and proceeds will support preservation efforts for the SS Moonlight and SS Encinitas Boathouses, two historic landmarks maintained by the Encinitas Preservation Association.
