• San Dieguito Art Guild announces Board of Directors for 2026-2027 (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Encinitas art lovers have new leadership guiding the San Dieguito Art Guild, which runs the Off Track Gallery on South Coast Highway 101 in town. The nonprofit, made up of over 200 local artists, showcases rotating exhibits in many mediums and invites residents to explore fresh work and connect with the local arts community.
   

• Californians claim titles as dwindling surf forces ECSC to move pro finals up a day (pilotonline.com) — An Encinitas surfer, Kyan Yang, just claimed his first World Surf League North America Qualifying Series win at the East Coast Surfing Championships in Virginia Beach. Battling tiny, choppy waves, he posted two key 5.67 rides early and held off his rival as officials moved the finals up a day to beat a worsening surf forecast.
   

• Kenneth Bogue, 83 (hopkintonindependent.com) — Family and friends are mourning Kenneth (Ken) George Bogue, who passed away on Aug. 19 at Silverado Memory Care in Encinitas after a long battle with Alzheimer's. The longtime Canadian and devoted family man is remembered for his humor, resourcefulness, love of lake life, and deep commitment to his children, grandchildren, and wife Liz.
