Kashi Expands Recall of Products Made With Sunflower Seeds
The recall due to possible Listeria contamination has expanded to include more products in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, plus two in Canada.

SOLANA BEACH, CA: Kashi Co., which announced a voluntary nationwide recall Tuesday of three of its products due to possible listeria contamination, has expanded the recall to include other products, including some sold in Canada, the Solana Beach-based company announced Friday.
Sunflower seeds used to make the recalled products are potentially contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, according to the company. The supplier of the seeds, SunOpta, expanded the scope of impacted products after Kashi had already announced its recall Tuesday, forcing the company to announce an expansion of the recall.
In addition to Kashi Trail Mix Chewy Granola Bars, Kashi has now also recalled its GoLean Honey Pecan Baklava Bars with the packages sizes, UPC codes and expiration dates pictured below.

And in addition to Bear Naked Soft Baked Granola Cinnamon + Sunflower variety, Bear Naked Soft Baked Granola Pepita+ Hemp + Sunflower Butter has also been recalled. The affected package sizes, UPC codes and expiration dates are pictured below.


Both varieties of the bars and granola are sold throughout the United States and in Puerto Rico, according to the company.

In Canada, Kashi Whole Grain Trail Mix Bars and Kashi Whole Grain Bars of the package sizes, UPC codes and expiration dates pictured below have been recalled.


Although the company as of Friday had received no confirmed reports of illness from the recalled products, consumers who have purchased the products were advised to discard them and contact Kashi for a full refund.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The company said no other Kashi or Bear Naked products are impacted by the recall.
