“This is “Encinitas life!” at Moonlight Beach Fest!
Enjoy a day with activities including the Surfing Madonna beach run/walk, the Science of Surf and Skate arena, Waterman Lifestyle exhibits sand sculpture and live art, a just-for-kids zone, DJ Chris Cote and reggae band, The Devastators on stage, and of course, a day at Moonlight Beach, at the cove, on the sand.
When asked what you can expect at this year’s Moonlight Beach Fest, Recreation Supervisor, Nick Buck says, “It’s all about Encinitas life. We are putting a spotlight on fun and recreation by working in partnership with the local Surfing Madonna Ocean’s Project non-profit organization. The run alone will have nearly 4,000 runners hitting the beach. In addition to that, we’ve got live music, a lot of hands-on fun, just really something for everyone. It’s going to be an awesome day in Encinitas.”
Register for the Surfing Madonna 5K/10K/10mile Beach Run/Walk at www.SurfingMadonnaRun.org. With thousands in prize money for the runners at skate, a costume contest, awesome raffle prizes throughout the day and Dr. Bronner’s Magic Foam Experience, this will an unforgettable event! The race starts at peak low tide at approximately 12:30pm since it’s entirely run on the sand on our Encinitas beaches. Festivities will include:
- Science of Surf and Skate - Open your eyes to the role that the physical and life sciences play in the activities we love. Plenty of interactive “labs”, athlete meet & greets, and hands-on activities to check out. You’ll be blown away!
- Waterman Lifestyle expo - It’s all about the Waterman lifestyle. Check out cool exhibits and visit with Encinitas Lifeguards, see their equipment and learn about other agencies who keep our area beaches environmentally healthy and safe. A special feature will be the landing and takeoff of the County’s ASTRIA helicopter.
- Sandcastle arena and live art - The Encinitas Artists Colony is building a sandcastle and want you to join in!
- Moonlight Beach Lounge & Overlook - we transform the overlook into the ultimate kick-back and relax experience with comfy furniture, art, music and more. Enjoy the breeze and view of the ocean.
- Just-For-Kids Zone - free arts and crafts just for kids with the San Dieguito Heritage Museum.
- Free drop-in volleyball clinics all morning long. Come meet Olympian Sinjin Smith.
- Live local musicians with headliner act “The Devastators” closing out the day.
- Local food- Encinitas’ best sandwiches at Moonlight Beach Deli and Dogs, Food Trucks and more.
