Moonlight Beach Fest Set for Oct. 25 in Encinitas

Event set for Saturday, Oct. 25 in Encinitas.

Join us on Saturday Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for a day at the cove on the sand with family and friends at Moonlight Beach Fest.

We’re creating an an amazing experience that embraces Encinitas life, including sports, recreation, arts, education and the outdoors. There’s something for everyone to enjoy. Check it out!

Festivities will Include:

  • Surfing Madonna Oceans 1K/5K/10K- In it’s first year in 2013, nearly 2,000 runners and walkers turned out, this year, we’re expecting almost double that. The run starts at 2:15, low-tide. The entire course is on the beach. With 22,000 in prize money, a designer race t-shirt, medals and plenty of goodies for all registered participants, this is one you don’t want to miss! Sign up for this one-of-a-kind experience at www.SurfingMadonnaRun.org.;
  • Moonlight Beach Volleyball Challenge- get in on some friendly grass-roots competition. Does your team have what it takes to hold the court at MLB? Bragging rights will go to the team that can take on all comers at Moonlight Beach Fest. Come cheer on the players on the coolest sand courts in San Diego;
  • Science of Surf and Skate- Open your eyes to the role that the physical and life sciences play in the activities we love. Plenty of interactive “labs” to check out. Just look for the skate half-pipe, the awesome wave table or massive collection of surfboards and you’ll know you’ve found it;
  • The Waterman Lifestyle expo- Take your exploration of the oceans to a new level. Wildcoast, Kings Paddle Sports, Encinitas Lifeguards and others will display tons of cool equipment used to explore our offshore areas and provide resources about how to be good stewards of our oceans and beaches. Learn about San Diego’s largest Marine Life Protection Area, right in our backyard. Also scheduled is a landing and takeoff of the County’s ASTREA helicopter;
  • Moonlight Beach Overlook Lounge- Thanks to our friends at California Patio in Encinitas, we’re transforming the overlook into the coolest oceanfront lounge in Encinitas for the day. On the overlook, we’ll also unveil the brand new giant mosaic mural by Mark Patterson, the creator of the Surfing Madonna mosaic. Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to see the artwork, meet the artist and kick back in style;
  • Sand Sculpture Arena and live art- Thanks to the support of Encinitas Mainstreet 101, a professional sand sculptor will create a giant sculpture representing Moonlight Beach Fest, an awesome photo opportunity. The artist will also teach kids of all ages techniques to take their sand art to a new level;
  • Just for Kids Zone- Encinitas Parks and Rec will have some free ocean-themed crafts for the kids. Also take a pic with our sea-life cutouts. JUST ADDED- kids will be able to cement in the finishing pieces of the brand new mosaic art piece from the Surfing Madonna Oceans Project. Be a part of history;
  • Live music with headliner soon to be announced- Who doesn’t love live music on the beach? We’ve got Chris Dale, The Second Cousins and a headliner playing just before sunset. Stay tuned for announcement of our headliner band. Bring your beach chairs and blankets and enjoy;
  • Local food, community and much more!- Moonlight Beach Deli and Dogs, Whole Foods Encinitas, Wahoo’s Fish Taco, Cafe Ipe and more. Plus, Moonlight Beach is just a short walk to countless eateries downtown, so don’t worry about packing a cooler, hit the beach and enjoy!
