News release
Meet creepy and crawly critters that “spirit” San Elijo Lagoon after sunset! Not-So-Scary Estuary is a Family Discovery Days Program happening this weekend, October 18-19, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center (directions).
Kids are encouraged to come in costume and enter the costume contest. Families will enjoy touring the nature center loop trail, with views of the salt marsh and “clues” to animals that live in the lagoon through the Haunted Hike Nature Trail. Meet live bats on Saturday and live owls on Sunday through special animal presentations designed to help kids realize some animals we may not know as well aren’t really so scary after all.
