Rancho Coastal Humane Society Thrift Shop Celebrates Reopening

ENCINITAS, CA — The Rancho Coastal Humane Society Thrift Shop in Cardiff celebrated its grand reopening Monday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The thrift shop held a "soft opening" June 15 after shutting down for three months due to the coronavirus pandemic. The shop raised $1.2 million to support Encinitas-based Rancho Coastal Humane Society last fiscal year, according to RCHS spokesman John Van Zante.

"June is 'Rebuild Your Life Month.' We held a soft opening to give the volunteers and staff time to adjust to some changes we made during the shutdown and to learn the new safety and cleaning protocols," RCHS President Judi Sanzo said. "Now it's time to get back to business and raise money to help the people and pets who have been relying on RCHS for 60 years."

Members of the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce attended the grand reopening, which kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Dignitaries presented certificates while attendees and participants socially distanced and wore masks.

The thrift shop at 120 Aberdeen Drive will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily throughout the summer. The store is accepting donations.

"People who spent their stay-at-home time cleaning closets, garages and store rooms can donate the items they no longer need to help Rancho Coastal Humane Society," Sanzo said.
