The Rhoades School Donates Food to Families in Need
Members of the school's Girl Rising Club assembled and decorated bags of food for Friends and Family Community Connection
Middle school students at The Rhoades School in Encinitas recently packed and donated more than 20 bags filled with food items for the Friends and Family Community Connection’s (FFCC) annual Thanksgiving Box Project. For one week, members of the school’s Girl Rising Club hosted a schoolwide drive and collected food items, including boxes of stuffing, corn, aluminum foil, gift cards and more to benefit military families and families that have experienced homelessness. The students worked together to decorate the bags, fill them with the donated items and write hopeful messages for each recipient. Through this initiative, students learned the importance of giving to those in need.
FFCC is a volunteer-led, San Diego-based, nonprofit community organization committed to improving the quality of life of disadvantaged children, youth, adults and families, both locally and globally.
