Wildlife Walk at San Elijo Lagoon

WILDLIFE WALK at San Elijo Lagoon

See trail map and directions

No visit is the same! With daily tides and the changing of seasons, a visit to San Elijo Lagoon yields new discoveries each time.

Along Rios Avenue trail, look for wildflowers, including Blue-eyed grass, lupine and California sunflower that begin to splash the hillsides with color. Focus binoculars and cameras for opportunities to see Cormorants on the power poles at the inlet, Osprey, waterfowl, and the rare Clapper Rail. This is San Elijo Lagoon's south side, featuring riparian woodlands and coastal sage scrub, with intimate views of the salt marsh. Recommended Ages 9+

Wildlife Walks are presented by San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy (2nd Saturdays) on different trails to explore with guides each season. More info
