Community Update

Wednesday, June 6, 2013: LAKE BALBOA NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL became the sixth local Council body to pass a resolution to support the National Park Service's eventual acquisition and administration of federally-owned properties at the SANTA SUSANA FIELD LAB site, following the site's completion of cleanup. LAKE BALBOA NC has joined with Chatsworth Neighborhood Council, West Hills NC, Granada Hills South NC, Chatsworth Community Coordinating Council, and Canoga Park Neighborhood Council. The Ventura County Archeological Society has also called for the National Park Service to intervene. All resolutions have been based on a proposal of the Chatsworth-based Santa Susana Mountain Park Association (ssmpa.com) intended to preserve the culturally and naturally important SSFL lands as open space / parklands forever.
