Westchester Democratic Club hosts Mike Feuer, candidate for LA City Attorney, and Ron Galperin, candidate for LA City Controller
The Westchester Democratic Club will feature candidates running in high profile and hotly contested races in the upcoming General Municipal Election (May 21st) at their monthly meeting which will be held on April 23 rd at the IHOP restaurant in Westchester. Former Councilman and Assemblyman Mike Feuer, candidate for Los Angeles City Attorney, and attorney, businessman Ron Galperin, candidate for Los Angeles City Controller will speak about their campaigns and plans for the offices they are seeking to be elected to. Attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a question and answer session following the candidate’s presentations.
In a heated race to defeat to City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, Feuer’s campaign is centered around ensuring secure neighborhoods, safe streets, protect consumers, preserve the environment and improve the business climate in LA. As the chief prosecutor for the City of Los Angeles with jurisdiction to prosecute all misdemeanor criminal offenses and infractions, Feuer is focusing on keeping kids out of gangs, criminal prosecution, and fighting for the rights of everyday Angelinos. And as general counsel to the Mayor and the City Council, all departments, and officers in the city Feuer promises innovative solutions and a city government that inspires confidence and trust. In the March 5th primary, Feuer captured 44.1 percent of the vote to the 28.7 percent for Trutanich.

Also running in a heated L.A. City race is businessman and attorney Ron Galperin. Running against Councilman and veteran politician Dennis Zine, Galperin is looking to take over the post of City Controller currently held by Wendy Greuel who is termed out. As LA City Controller, the chief accountant and auditor Galperin is looking to cut waste and inefficiency, create jobs and improve city services. His plans include using City assets wisely and effectively, collect money owed, and be strategic in purchases and growing business in L.A. As Chair of the City’s Commission on Revenue Efficiency, and President of the Quality and Productivity Commission, Ron identified over $450 million saved by cutting waste and improving fiscal management. With neither Zine or Galperin received 50% of the vote in the March 5th primary. Galperin received 37.77% of the vote while Zine received 36.48% of the vote.
