Learn to Square Dance

Square Dancing is a good way for people of all ages, especially those over 30 and shy, to meet new friends. Square Dancing is a team dance of 8 people and if a few positions are needed you would be coaxed out of your chair to complete their square. There is plenty of touching, hugging and exercise, about 6,000 to 7,000 steps or 5 miles, 2/3 the daily requirement, in a two hour class. It takes about 9 months of two hours a week to learn all the movements and during all that time you are dancing, not with one person but with everyone in the room. After graduating you then will be ready to go to Dances and you will be dancing with 100’s of people from a 30 mile radius. In your daily routine you’ll be greeting people you’ve “danced with” in restaurants, stores and at events. Square Dancing is always taught in English and in your travels throughout the world, a phonebook will lead you to the nearest Dance and new friends.

The Farmers and Charmers Square Dance club is having their annual open enrollment for beginning Square Dance: Sunday 8 Sep 2013 thru the end of Sep. from 6:30 till 9pm at the Wilkinson Center 8956 Vanalden Ave, Northridge.
