WOODLAND HILLS, CA — A man who fell approximately 20 feet down the mostly dry Calabasas Creek flood control channel in Woodland Hills was rescued, then hospitalized Wednesday morning in serious condition with leg injuries he sustained in the fall.
A Los Angeles Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue team was sent to the 23400 block of Los Encinos Way about 10:50 p.m. Tuesday where team members located the man at the bottom of the channel, according to the LAFD's Brian Humphrey.
"Once treated... (the injured man) was placed into a litter basket stretcher and manually hoisted via a ladder and rope system to ground level and an awaiting LAFD ambulance," Humphrey said.
