SF Valley Woman Leads CHP On Wild Chase Through Westside

WESTWOOD, CA – A woman in a white Kia Soul led officers on a chase from Westwood to Manhattan Beach before a PIT maneuver was used to stop her car, the California Highway Patrol said Saturday.

The woman was later identified as Elizabeth Trevor, of Chatsworth, the CHP reported.

The chase began about 4:15 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Federal Building, 11000 Wilshire Blvd., where an employee reported the vehicle was being driven recklessly by Trevor in a parking lot, according to the FBI.

Federal Protective Service officers initiated the chase, which was handed off to the CHP at 4:49 p.m. Friday, the CHP reported, when the Kia entered the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway from Wilshire Boulevard.

The pursuit continued south on the 405 and then west on the Glen Anderson (105) Freeway, then south on Sepulveda Boulevard.

The driver crossed the median and drove on the wrong side of Sepulveda Boulevard, through oncoming rush hour traffic.

At about 5:30, as the Kia approached 33rd Street in Manhattan Beach, a CHP officer executed a PIT maneuver, by steering into the rear of the chased car to swing it around.

Trevor was apprehended by CHP officers without further incident, and arrested on suspicion of reckless evading of a peace officer, the CHP reported.

The CHP did not release Trevor's age, and her name did not appear in the sheriff's jail records.
