• NorCal baseball, softball playoffs: Tuesday's quarterfinals scores (eastbaytimes.com) — Escalon High’s softball team edged Alhambra 6-5 to advance in the NorCal Division IV playoffs and will visit top-seeded West Valley on Thursday at 4 p.m. The roundup also lists scores and semifinal matchups for other Northern California baseball and softball divisions, but Escalon fans can especially circle that big road semifinal on their calendars.

• Firefighter compensation bill revived by Assemblyman Flora (escalontimes.com) — Escalon is among the communities represented by Assemblyman Heath Flora, whose revived bill AB 2129 aims to boost Cal Fire pay closer to local department levels. He also advanced AB 1939 to tighten oversight of professional fiduciaries. Both measures have bipartisan backing and recently cleared the Assembly’s key deadline.
