• NorCal baseball, softball playoffs: Tuesday's quarterfinals scores (eastbaytimes.com) — Escalon High’s softball team edged Alhambra 6-5 to advance in the NorCal Division IV playoffs and will visit top-seeded West Valley on Thursday at 4 p.m. The roundup also lists scores and semifinal matchups for other Northern California baseball and softball divisions, but Escalon fans can especially circle that big road semifinal on their calendars.
   

• Firefighter compensation bill revived by Assemblyman Flora (escalontimes.com) — Escalon is among the communities represented by Assemblyman Heath Flora, whose revived bill AB 2129 aims to boost Cal Fire pay closer to local department levels.
