Alcohol may have been a factor in the incident, police said.

SAN MARCOS, CA - A 55-year-old man suffered serious injuries Monday when he lost control of his car on a San Marcos street, struck multiple stationary objects and came to rest against a brick wall, authorities said.

The crash happened at 1:20 p.m. near the intersection of Alamitos Way and Oleander Avenue, according to San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy Cornelius Van Nieuwenhuyzen.

The 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis LS was going eastbound on Oleander Avenue when the driver lost control, Nieuwenhuyzen said. The driver was not wearing his seatbelt. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
