Fire Scorches Kitchen In Escondido Apartment
Seven engines, one truck and two ambulances responded to the fire on South Juniper Street.

ESCONDIDO, CA – A fire destroyed a kitchen of an apartment and damaged the rest of the unit Wednesday in Escondido.
Fire crews were dispatched at 11:15 a.m. to the first-floor apartment in a two-story building on South Juniper Street. Flames scorched the kitchen while the rest of the unit sustained minor to moderate smoke damage, Escondido Battalion Chief Andre Paredes said.
"Aggressive action by the firefighters contained and controlled the fire in approximately 20 minutes," Paredes said.

In total, seven engines, one truck and two ambulances responded to the fire. Escondido police helped close roads in the area as fire crews extinguished the flames.
"Due to the potential for the fire to spread and the threat to life and property, a second alarm response was requested," Paredes said.

There were no injuries. The family received a gift card from the California Fire Foundation to help with immediate emergency services.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
