• A Family of Palomar College Students (palomar.edu) — A large Escondido family is making the most of Palomar College's proximity, with six siblings commuting from their Escondido home to study architecture, engineering, and a new bachelor's program in Building Performance and Environmental Design. The sisters who enrolled first say supportive faculty and an affordable path to a four-year degree turned a single drafting class into a shared passion and clear career plans.
   

• Revite: Not much County can do about street vendors (valleycenter.com) — County officials say state law leaves them with limited tools to crack down on illegal street vendors and noisy event venues in Valley Center, frustrating residents who see pop-up businesses every weekend. They're focusing on road safety rules and new ordinances while also tracking homeless encampments, reporting about 166 homeless households in unincorporated Escondido and 20 in Valley Center. Staff are working with deputies to connect people to housing and services.
