San Marcos Boy, 13, Dies When Van Struck By Suspected DUI Driver
Several others were injured in the weekend, multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 405, CHP said.
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA - A San Marcos boy, 13, was killed and several individuals were injured over the weekend in a chain-reaction crash on an Orange County freeway when the van in which they were riding was hit by a suspected drunk driver, authorities said Monday.
The boy was among passengers in a silver, 2015 Honda Odyssey minivan that became disabled about 10:50 p.m. Saturday in the HOV lane of the northbound San Diego Freeway in Fountain Valley, California Highway Patrol Officer G. Aguirre said.
A 24-year-old man driving a black, 2014 Toyota Tacoma pickup crashed into the rear of the minivan, and a silver, 2019 Toyota Tacoma then crashed into the pickup, Aguirre said.

The boy died from his injuries, and others in the Odyssey suffered moderate to major injuries and were hospitalized, the officer said. The boy's name was not released by officials.
The driver of the black Tacoma suffered major injuries and subsequently was arrested at a hospital for suspicion of DUI, Aguirre said.
